A Story About This Scam

David: Let me paint a picture with a quick story from the not-so-distant past, about a year or two ago, before the era of COVID and even before the existence of Account Health Assurance.

And here's the kicker – the scam was eerily similar to what we're talking about today.

It all started with a phishing email that landed in the inbox of one of my former clients.

The email, you guessed it, was a crafty impersonation of Amazon.

So, here's the twist: this well-intentioned seller, thinking she was logging into her Amazon account, clicked that seemingly harmless link and unsuspectingly entered her username and password.

Little did she know, she was handing those sneaky hackers her golden keys to her Amazon kingdom.

What followed was a nightmare – the hackers got in, accessed her account with the info she willingly provided, and then had the audacity to change her banking details.

Yep, you guessed it right – the money that was supposed to flow into her account every two weeks was now merrily dancing its way into the hackers' pockets.

It was indeed a sad and incredibly stressful situation.

But you know what?

We were over the moon when we got in touch with Amazon's legal team, and they managed to sort it all out.

We were able to recoup the $65,000 she had lost.

Now, that's a win, no doubt about it.
