I also had the pleasure of collaborating with David in another blog post where we discussed the five best tips to avoid Amazon suspension.
The response to that post was overwhelmingly positive, and I was thrilled to see that it was so well-received by the community. If you haven't had a chance to read it yet, I highly recommend checking it out.

Additionally, we have another post together where we review how to handle counterfeit complaints on Amazon.
Turning our attention back to the main issue, we'll be discussing Amazon's Fair Market Pricing Policy and the controversial practice of price gouging… Let's delve deeper!
But if you want a video version, as always, I've embedded it right below:
What Causes You to Get This Sort of Complaint
According to David, during the COVID-19 pandemic, there was an increase in the number of sellers getting flagged for fair market pricing violations, specifically in health and safety products.
He also mentioned that a lot of sellers use auto-pricing software that automatically increases the price when demand goes up.
While this can be helpful in general, it caused a lot of issues during the pandemic.
What is Price Gouging?
When customers scramble for basic necessities, you need to be careful because excessive or unfair pricing can be considered price gouging, which is a violation of the law.
To avoid this, you should monitor your auto-pricing software carefully and make sure your prices are not going up significantly when there is a time of need.
How to Solve the Price Gouging Complaint
If you do get a message from Amazon accusing you of price gouging, you should first contact Amazon and explain why you're not doing it.
It's also important to look at the specific statute that pertains to your particular state and explain why it's not considered price gouging or what happened.
It's critical to be careful with what goes in your appeals or letters to Amazon because they could be handing over information to State Attorney Generals.
