Price talks with competitors seem like a normal business part, right?
Well… not always.
Amazon treats any price discussion as price fixing and enforces suspensions with little chance for return.
In my recent YouTube video, I sat down with Amazon seller lawyer David Miller to expose the dangers of pricing-related suspensions.
In this article, I break down our conversation so you can protect your account, avoid unwanted penalties, and stay clear of bans that can be hard to overturn.
Let's begin!
____________
Pricing-Related Suspensions: What You Need to Know
Vova: David, I know a lot of sellers try to talk to their competitors about pricing, thinking it’s just part of doing business.
But I’ve heard this can actually be dangerous on Amazon.
What’s going on here?
David: That’s correct, and it’s a big deal.
We’ve been seeing a lot of pricing-related suspensions lately, especially around things like price fixing, rigging sales, and coordinating pricing with competitors.
If you’re a seller who contacts another seller to try and coordinate pricing, even if your intentions are good, that’s a huge no-no.

Why Amazon Cracks Down on Pricing Discussions
Vova: Even if someone is just trying to negotiate or resolve an issue?
David: Exactly. You might think you’re just trying to keep the peace, settle a dispute, or negotiate an arrangement.
But Amazon doesn’t see it that way.
They view it as price fixing, an attempt to control the market.
And Amazon takes this extremely seriously.
If they flag you for this behavior, your account could be suspended, and in many cases, getting reinstated is nearly impossible.
So my advice is simple: don’t do it.
Don’t contact competitors to discuss or coordinate pricing.
It’s not worth the risk.
The Bottom Line
Vova: That’s pretty clear. So basically, if you don’t want to lose your account, stay away from any kind of pricing coordination with other sellers.
David: Exactly. Even if it seems harmless, Amazon’s policies are strict, and they monitor for this type of behavior.
If you try it, you will likely get caught and ultimately, suspended.

Conclusion
Understanding Amazon’s strict rules about price fixing is very important if you want to keep your account safe.
As David explained, talking with competitors about prices can get you suspended, and in most cases, it’s very hard to get your account back.
Even if you just want to solve a problem or keep prices fair, Amazon can see it as breaking the rules.
The safest approach is to set your own prices, keep good records, and get advice from an expert if you’re unsure.
This way, you can protect your account and keep your business running without trouble.
