Vova: Let’s dive in. Would you say Amazon PPC is tough to pick up?
Adrian: Honestly, learning Amazon PPC can feel pretty tough at first.
You know, when Kris and I started years ago, we basically learned by doing and making mistakes along the way.
We found ourselves trying every strategy we could find online, and talking with lots of other sellers, hoping for a quick win.
Generally, most of those early attempts didn’t work, so we often felt stuck.
In fact, PPC comes with a huge set of options: budgets, bids, match types like broad, phrase, and exact, plus ad groups.
Each option is kind of like a tool in a giant toolbox, and it takes time to figure out which one to use for the right job.

Adrian: You might wonder, why even use PPC?
Well, PPC ads can boost your regular, organic sales in a pretty big way.
At the beginning, it’s hard to see how it all connects, how one click can turn into organic sales later.
It raises questions like: Should I run one campaign per product?
How do I set up ad groups?
What is a day parting tool, or top-of-search placement?
You might even ask, what does rest-of-search mean?
All of these terms can feel like a maze, and you need to learn when and what to do.
You need a step by step guide to dominating Amazon PPC.
It took us quite a while to get comfortable.
But once you keep experimenting, and you track your results carefully, you begin to see patterns.
Then, PPC starts to make sense, and your sales can really take off, actually.
Kris: You know, it took me quite a while to really get comfortable with Amazon PPC.
Honestly, I’ve earned three different certifications: one from Google Ads, another from Amazon’s own PPC program, and even a certificate from my university covering digital advertising fundamentals.
Each certification lays out the core concepts: for instance, how keywords function, and when to choose broad match versus phrase match or exact match keywords, depending on your campaign goals.
But those courses only cover theory; they explain the framework, but the real learning happens when you take action.
So, yes, you truly learn by testing and occasionally making mistakes.
At first, all this detail felt overwhelming, and I’ll admit, it’s a challenging topic.
For me and Adrian, it took about five to six years of experimenting, analyzing results, and fine-tuning strategies before we felt confident.
Then after those years of hands-on experience, we built AdFixer because by that point, we knew the key steps that work well.
That way, anyone can benefit from a proven system instead of starting from scratch.
How Adrian and Kris Built AdFixer to Simplify PPC
Adrian: Yeah, we started by picking a wide range of products across different categories and noting every manual step we took for PPC management.
Then we summarized those steps and built an application to handle it smoothly and automatically.
It saves time because managing PPC properly takes a couple of hours daily, especially with a large seller portfolio.
Most people don’t have that kind of time.
Plus, even if you did, you’d need to know exactly what to do, which means teaching yourself the details of campaign setup, keyword tracking, bid management, and budget allocation.
Often, you’ll find products require unique bid strategies, and the app handles that.
It even analyzes performance data continuously and adjusts bids based on accurate real metrics.
So we built the app to do the heavy lifting, letting sellers focus on other parts of their business.
It’s quite a process, but really worth the effort.

Vova: Do you know of any good PPC training programs?
I’ve heard about the Helium 10 Amazon PPC Academy, which offers a step-by-step course about Amazon PPC.
They even dive deep into campaign setup, keyword research, and bidding strategies.
Helium 10 Freedom Ticket program also has a PPC section, but I’m wondering if there are any other specific courses that you trust.
Or maybe you’ve developed your own PPC class that covers these topics?
I’d love to know which ones you recommend most.
Kris: If you’re already selling on Amazon, I definitely recommend checking out the free course they offer.
Once you register as a seller, you can access it, and honestly, it’s pretty solid for learning the basics.
We’re also planning to create our own course soon.
My university background gave me a strong foundation, and I’ve also learned from Google’s training programs.
So, we’re thinking about putting all of that together into a free course on. By the way I offer many free courses about selling on Amazon on Udemy.
The goal is to help people understand not just how PPC works, but also why we decided to build an automation tool in the first place.
If someone only has one or two products, they might be okay managing PPC by hand; though it can still take three to four hours a day.
But if they have more products, that time adds up fast.
In our course, we want to show how they can handle that better.
Adrian: Right, but here’s the thing: you’ve really got to know the basics before jumping in.
Why Is Experimenting With PPC So Tricky (and Risky)
Adrian: PPC is all about experimenting, but the tricky part is, you're experimenting with your own money.
That makes it a lot harder.
Most people don’t feel comfortable risking cash just to test different strategies they saw online.
You might come across five totally different methods, and then you’re stuck thinking, “Which one’s right for me?”
We've been in that exact situation.
It’s a tough call to make, especially if you're working with a limited budget.
So before doing anything advanced, it's important to build a basic understanding.
That way, your testing has direction, and you’re not just guessing your way through it.

From there, the software applies the strategy Adrian and Kris have developed through their work with clients.
Basically, the automation handles the heavy lifting.
That means it can save you a lot of time, and likely money too, especially if you’re a newer seller.
Of course, it’s still a great idea to learn the basics of PPC.
Even if you're using a tool like AdFixer, understanding the data you're seeing is important.
Knowing what those numbers mean helps you make better choices, even if the software is doing most of the work.
And sure, there’s always an onboarding call where you guys explain how it all works.
But at the end of the day, educating yourself a little bit really helps.
Also, some people just don’t enjoy digging into PPC.
In those cases, using a tool or hiring someone to manage it makes perfect sense.
In my case, I don’t handle Amazon PPC for our business; my partner does that.
I focus more on YouTube PPC and Google Ads for my personal brand.
I promote different tools and blog content through those platforms.
I’ve taken a few online courses and had consulting calls with people who know way more than me.
And honestly, once you understand the strategy behind PPC, it can become a pretty interesting process.
But I also get that it’s not for everyone.
Final Tips for Beginners in PPC
Vova: So before we wrap this up, I’d love to hear, do you have any final tips for someone who’s just starting to learn PPC?
Maybe some advice or common mistakes to avoid?
Anything you’d like to share to help beginners get off to a smoother start?
Kris: Actually, the best approach we always recommend is something we call test it, fail, and improve.
That’s really the cycle we aim for.
First, you test a strategy.
If it doesn’t work, it’s not really a failure; it’s a chance to learn.
For example, if a keyword isn’t performing well, you might decide to move it to a negative list or shift it into a different campaign with a smaller budget.
The key is to keep experimenting with your setup, each adjustment teaches you something new.
You tweak, learn, and repeat until you develop a clear sense of what works best.
Also, since platforms like Google and Amazon are constantly updating their algorithms (Amazon moved from A9 to A11 recently) you have to stay up to date.
In short, if I had to give one clear tip, it’s this: practice consistently.
That’s how you’ll figure out what really works for you, not just in theory but in your real campaigns.
Adrian: Exactly, and just to add to that, you have to keep learning all the time.
It’s not like you learn PPC today and then apply the same strategy for the next year without changing anything.
Things move fast.
So always check what other experienced sellers and experts are doing.
But be careful, there’s a lot of advice out there, and not all of it is helpful or even accurate.
We've definitely gone down that road ourselves.
We saw tons of videos and strategies early on, but only some of them were really useful.
That’s why it’s important to follow people you trust - those who actually have results and know what they’re talking about.
Pay attention to what they share, try to understand the logic behind it, and then apply it to your own PPC campaigns.
Over time, those small improvements really add up.
That's probably one of the smartest ways to grow steadily in PPC.
