Why Is Jungle Scout Missing Data and How to Fix It?
If your Jungle Scout isn’t showing monthly sales or if certain data points are missing, you’re not alone.
The company itself understands that missing data can be very frustrating.
Sometimes the extension won’t be able to display certain pieces of information, and there are a few common reasons why this happens.
Let’s go through these reasons one by one.
1. The Extension Isn’t Working at All
Sometimes, you might find that your Jungle Scout extension isn’t working at all.
In these cases, one of the simplest and most effective fixes is to uninstall and then reinstall the extension.
This process forces the tool to update to the latest version and often clears up any lingering glitches.
I’ve noticed that whenever I run into problems with any Amazon-related extension, a quick uninstall and reinstall usually does the trick.

2. A Specific Column or Data Point Is Missing
Another common issue is when a particular piece of data, such as the Listing Quality Score (LQS), isn’t showing up in your view.
If you find that a specific column is missing, the solution is straightforward.
You simply need to access the “Customized View” option within the extension.
Once you’re in the Customized View, check to see which data points you want to display.
Enable the options that are missing, and then click “Apply.”
This should refresh your view and make sure that all the information you need is visible.
It’s a simple setting adjustment that can save you a lot of confusion later on.

3. Some Data Points Are Missing Due to Product Categories
Do you see some data points but not others, such as missing monthly or daily sales estimates?
This often happens because of the way Amazon categorizes and ranks products.
Jungle Scout can only estimate sales if the product listing has a Best Seller Rank (BSR) in a parent category.
How do you know if you’re in the right category?
When you look at a product on Amazon, scroll down to the product details page and find the section that shows the product’s category.
Here’s what you need to know:
Parent Categories: These are the main departments you see in the dropdown next to the Amazon search bar (like Kitchen & Dining, Electronics, etc.). Parent categories are not clickable links.
Subcategories: These appear as clickable links. For example, a product might be listed under “garlic presses” or “garlic peelers” as subcategories.
If a product listing is missing a parent category with a BSR, Jungle Scout cannot generate its monthly or daily sales estimates.
The BSR is used to calculate the sales data, and usually, the first category listed under the BSR is the parent category.
For example, if you see “Kitchen and Dining” as the first item and it is not a clickable link, that indicates it is a parent category.
In contrast, a clickable link like “garlic presses” represents a subcategory.
If you do not see the sales estimates, it may be because the listing does not include a parent category with a BSR.
Check the product information section on Amazon to confirm which category appears first.
4. Issues with Amazon Smile
Another reason you might encounter missing data is related to the Amazon Smile website or the Smile extension.
Jungle Scout does not work properly when the Amazon Smile app is active on the Amazon store.
If you have the Smile extension enabled, it can interfere with Jungle Scout’s ability to read the data correctly.
The solution here is simple: consider turning off the Amazon Smile extension when you’re using Jungle Scout.
Disabling Smile should allow Jungle Scout to work as intended and display all the necessary data.

5. Problems Caused by Amazon’s Translator
Have you noticed that the extension sometimes behaves strangely when Amazon’s translator is enabled?
The reason for this is that Jungle Scout is coded to read information on each product listing in the native language of the marketplace.
For example:
On amazon.com, the listing must be in English.
On amazon.de, the listing must be in German.
On amazon.es, the listing must be in Spanish.
When the translator is on, it can alter the language of the product information and confuse the extension, preventing it from accurately reading data like categories and rankings.
If you’re having trouble, simply turn off Amazon’s translator.
Once the translator is disabled, you should see that the sales estimates and other data points populate correctly.
6. Dealing with Product Variations
Products on Amazon often come in different variations.
Let’s say you’re looking at a garlic press available in different colors, such as green and red.
Here’s where things can get a bit tricky:
When All Variations Share the Same BSR: In many cases, Amazon assigns the same Best Seller Rank (BSR) to all variations of a product.
Because Jungle Scout bases its estimates on the BSR, it cannot provide separate sales numbers for each individual variation.
Instead, it shows a combined sales estimate for all the variations together.
For example, if you see that five variations are estimated to sell about 90 units per month (which comes out to roughly three units per day), that figure is for the combined sales of all variations — not for each one individually.
When Variations Have Their Own BSR: Sometimes, Amazon gives each variation its own BSR.
When this happens, Jungle Scout can display individual sales estimates for each variation.
On the product listing page, you’ll typically see a small arrow to the left of each variation’s title.
Clicking this arrow will expand the section and reveal the individual BSR and estimated sales for that variation.
A helpful tip when dealing with variations: if you notice that one variation has significantly more reviews than the others and they were launched around the same time, that variation is likely selling more.
This can give you an extra clue when you’re trying to decide which variation is performing best.
