Best Tips and Ideas to Improve Your Logistics for Amazon and Save Money

Hi there!

Are you an Amazon seller looking to enhance your logistics and optimize shipping to Amazon? I heard you loud and clear! Just sit tight and get ready to discover valuable tips and ideas that will help you improve your shipping process, deliver products faster, and save money along the way.

I am Vova Even, and it's an absolute delight to come up with yet another captivating post. Let's dive in and explore the endless possibilities together!

Oh, and if you don't know who I am, let me give you a quick rundown of who I am.

I'm an Amazon seller, a creative instructor on YouTube and Udemy, and a passionate Amazon FBA blogger all in one. 😉

I've been actively selling on Amazon since 2016, and I've learned a lot along the way.

In this blog post, I wanted to share some tips and ideas to help you improve your logistics when shipping to Amazon, and hopefully deliver your products faster while saving money in the process.

I hope you'll find this information useful.

But before we begin, are you in the mood for some visual goodness? Check out the video version of this article, tucked snugly just below. 😉

Have a Few Contacts with Different Logistics Firms or Freight Forwarders

First and foremost, do note that it's highly important to have contacts with a few different logistics firms or freight forwarders. I'll share a few contacts with you at the end of this article that I've personally worked with, and I can attest to their reliability.

Now, let's understand why having a few contacts is crucial.

There are a few reasons for this. Firstly, you might get better prices by getting quotes from multiple companies.

Even if you have a good relationship with one freight forwarder, there may be reasons why their prices are higher. Maybe they want to make more money, maybe they're overbooked, or the route they have is more expensive.

By having a few contacts, you can compare prices and sometimes find a much better deal. I once received a quote that was $1,000 cheaper than my regular forwarder, and that's a lot of money for me, especially when selling on Amazon.

Another advantage of having multiple forwarders is delivery times.

Sometimes, you might reach out to your regular forwarder and find that the closest shipping date is several weeks away. This could be a problem if you're running low on stock, and it's especially critical during peak periods like the fourth quarter (Q4).

To avoid this, you should have a few forwarders in your Rolodex, so you can compare delivery times and find the fastest option.

I once reached out to my regular forwarder and they told me the closest shipping date was in mid-October.

But that was too late for me so I had to reach out to another forwarder. And to my surprise and happiness, they were able to provide me with an earlier shipping solution. This was a lifesaver, as it was near the end of Q4 and I was running low on stock for a best-seller in Canada.

Ask About the Cut-Off Date for the Closest Shipment

When working with a forwarder, it's important to ask about the cut-off date for a specific shipment.

This means asking about the last date that you can send your products to their warehouse, so they can measure and send them off to the plane or ship. If you miss the cut-off date, you might have to wait another week for the next shipment.

In this regard, too, asking a few forwarders can help. Why?

Because the answers might vary. You can reach out to different forwarders, compare their given cut-off dates, and find the earliest option.

Be Mindful of the Unique Measurement Standards of Various Shipping Companies

I've recently begun to notice that different shipping companies measure products differently.

For example, let's say you have a box of kitchen knives, an Amazon FBA master carton sizing 25*20*10 cm and weighing 15 kilograms. One company might measure it differently than another.

Sometimes they might add a centimeter to each side because this way they conduct their measurements (weird, I know).

Therefore, it's important to understand how your products will be measured before shipping. This could impact the price of shipping, so you must make sure you understand how each forwarder will measure your products before making a decision.

All Things Considered…

In conclusion, these are just a few tips and ideas to help you improve your logistics when shipping to Amazon.

By having multiple forwarders, and comparing prices, delivery times, and cut-off dates, you can find the best option for your needs.
