Vova: Hey there, folks!

Vova here, and I'm thrilled to explore the Amazon product research journey with you.

Today, we have the wonderful Veronica from ZonGuru, and she's here to guide us through their Niche Finder tool.

Veronica: So, our Niche Finder tool is ready to roll.

I've got everything pre-opened, just in case my computer decides to play hard to get.

To break it down, the Niche Finder tool is like a spark of inspiration when you're on the hunt for a product.

Now, it might be more geared towards beginners, but I often chat with people who say, "Veronica, what should I sell on Amazon? I like this, and I want to sell it."

And most often, I come up with this answer: "It's not about what you like; it's about what your target audience is going to like. What's the demand for that product?"

And that's where our Niche Finder tool comes into play.

So, diving into Niche Finder, it's all about sparking those ideas for potential products.

Now, with our tool, there's easy mode and advanced mode.

The key difference?

Well, advanced mode lets you add filters, while easy mode is more about picking off categories.

Today, I'm going straight into advanced mode and resetting my filters.

Let's see what we've got.

Now, when you're using this tool, think of it as your inspiration hub.

I'm personally looking to sell in the United States, and as we all know, each marketplace behaves a bit differently.

So, when you're doing your market research, make sure it's specific to the marketplace you're eyeing.

In my case, it's the US. Now, you get to pick your category.

If you've got a few in mind that you really like, go ahead and select those.

Or, if you're feeling adventurous, just hit "select all."

Totally up to you.

Personally, I have a soft spot for the baby niche, and home and kitchen are always a blast.

Oh, and let's not forget the fun of pet supplies.

So, you get to pick the categories you want to explore.

Now, check out these filters – there are quite a few.

But don't feel overwhelmed; you don't have to use them all.

If you're curious about what each filter does, just hover over the icon "i" and it'll explain it to you.

Let me walk you through a few filters that I find handy in my product research.

First up, we have this Niche Score.

Now, this score is a recurring theme in some of our other tools, so it's worth keeping in mind.

The Niche Score is a combined percentage based on buyer demand, competition, opportunity, investment sweet spot, and profit potential.

We gather all these data points and boil it down to a percentage.

Alright, let's dive deeper into how I like to set up my filters.

Generally, when I'm guiding folks on using the tool, I suggest aiming for a Niche Score of around 50 to move forward.

So, let's set that at 50.

Now, check out these filters – Search Volume, Launch Budget, Average Price, and Sales.

I usually kick off with Sales.

In the US, I'm interested in exploring products or niches that are pulling in at least ten thousand dollars a month.

I want to investigate the winners.

So, I'll set my minimum average sale at ten thousand dollars.

Also, I like to look at products priced over twenty-five dollars.

Why?

Because I want to ensure there's enough room for a decent margin and profit.

Selling something for ten dollars leaves little room for error.

But remember, these filters are based on personal preferences.

I'm just showing you my approach to product research.

You might have your own methods, and that's the beauty of this tool – it lets you be specific about what you're looking for.

The flexibility here is fantastic.

Now, if you're a new seller with a limited budget, you can tailor your launch budget accordingly.

If you've only got five thousand dollars to play with, you can input that.

Personally, I prefer starting a bit broader and refining from there.

Once you've set your filters, hit that "Search" button.

Vova: Veronica, let's delve a bit deeper into the Niche Score you mentioned earlier.

It ranges from zero to a hundred percent, and it's based on various criteria.

The higher the score, the better the niche, according to ZonGuru's algorithms.

So, you set it from 50 to 100 percent, showing products that are at least 50 percent on that Niche Score to a hundred percent.

Essentially, it highlights products that, based on the algorithms, are already considered good.

Now, you mentioned going from 50 to 100 percent, but can people fine-tune it even more?

Like, could they narrow it down to 90 to 100 percent to focus on the absolute best ones?

Or does the chance of finding products decrease as they set it higher?

It's clear that we shouldn't solely rely on the Niche Score for our decisions, but it's more of a helper tool, right?

It provides us with some initial ideas.

Veronica: Absolutely, as you rightly pointed out, the Niche Score is built on four critical data points.

Let me open one of these up to give you a closer look.

Vova: Alright, let's see it.

Veronica: So, breaking down the Niche Score, you can see it's divided into Buyer Demand, Competition, Investment, and Revenue Potential.

Each of these factors contributes to the overall percentage.

Generally, the higher the number, the better the opportunity.

But, and it's a crucial point, we need to remember that there's no such thing as a perfect product.

I doubt you'll find one with a hundred percent score because, especially in the US Marketplace on Amazon, we've been around for a while.

Many opportunities have already been explored.

So, we're not in search of the perfect product; that's why we're looking for a score around 50.

Now, these data points aren't just generic – they're tailored to your specific circumstances and what you're exploring.

Let me illustrate with an example.

I'm looking at a mattress pad for a twin bed, and the Niche Score is 51, meeting our criteria of over 50.

But let's break down the data points.

Vova: Alright, let's dive into it.

Veronica: Looking at Buyer Demand, we've got a solid 86 percent.

That means there's a high demand for this product.

However, if you shift your gaze to the Investment sweet spot, it shows zero percent.

Now, don't be alarmed; this doesn't mean it's a bad thing.

In fact, it indicates that the investment sweet spot is high.

ZonGuru free trial is available here.

It's just another layer to consider.

Now, let's shift our focus to the Launch Budget.

If you're eyeing this particular niche, be prepared to invest around $150,000 grand to launch.

Now, if you're thinking, "I've only got $5000 to kickstart my journey," this might not be the right niche for you.

It's pretty competitive, demanding a substantial upfront investment.

On the flip side, if you're sitting on 200 grand, you might be saying, "Yeah, 50 grand extra? No big deal."

It's all about how you interpret these scores and how they align with your circumstances.

Vova: Absolutely, understanding the context is crucial.

And here's a practical tip for everyone excited about a niche: don't forget to chat with your suppliers.

Negotiate, explore deals, see what prices you can get.

It might vary, and if you can secure a better deal or have a special hookup, it can make a significant difference.

This is all about getting a general overview of what's happening in the niche.

Veronica: Alright, so back to the Niche Finder.

I hit that Search button, added the filters, and voila!

ZonGuru has conjured up a list of products that align with those criteria.

It's that spark of inspiration, you know, that guidance.

Now, just like I did with the mattress, I can click open and swiftly check out what's happening on page one.

In a glance, I can see the search volume, average sales, price, ratings, reviews, and the average rating – a solid five stars for these products.

The average monthly revenue?

A whopping 286,000 in 30 days.

This niche is on fire, but here's the catch – the Launch Budget is quite hefty.

And that's what the Niche Finder tool does.

It presents you with a variety of products to explore.

Vova: Thanks for breaking that down, Veronica.

It's been an enlightening conversation, exploring the ins and outs of Amazon product research with ZonGuru.
