When selling on Amazon, your product listing is your storefront.

It’s what customers see first, and it’s what convinces them to click “Add to Cart.”

In a recent video on my channel, I sat down with Isaac Gross from IG PPC to talk about how to create listings that actually convert.

If you want to stand out in a crowded marketplace, you need more than just a decent product.

You need a beautiful, compelling listing, especially your main image.

In this article, I’ll break down what Isaac shared about:

  1. Creating listings that grab attention,

  1. Why packaging plays a bigger role than you might think, and

  1. How to use tools like PickFu and ProductPinion for testing your images.

But before we dive in, here are a few great deals I’ve lined up for you!

Why Your Main Image Is Everything

According to Isaac: your main image can make or break your product’s success.

“When shoppers go into a physical store, they can see, touch, and feel the product. Online, they can’t. So your main image really needs to be beautiful,” he said.

Think of your main image as the digital version of your product’s “first impression.”

If it doesn’t stand out, you risk getting buried among competitors.

Use Split Testing

Don’t settle for what you think looks good.

Use split testing tools to figure out what actually performs best.

Isaac recommends using:

  1. PickFu: A tool that lets you test multiple image variations and get feedback from real people.

  1. ProductPinion: A cost-effective alternative to PickFu, offering similar split testing capabilities. Another similar A/B test tool for Amazon sellers is Intellivy.

Here’s how to use them:

  1. Upload different versions of your main image.

  1. Run a poll with your target audience.

  1. Use the feedback to choose the image that’s most likely to attract clicks.

This data-driven approach takes the guesswork out of deciding which image works best.

Think Like a Customer

Isaac shared a great tip he learned from Aaron Cordovez, the founder of Zulay Kitchen, one of the top-selling kitchen brands on Amazon.

When Aaron launches a new product, here’s what he does:

  1. Takes a screenshot of the first page of Amazon search results for his product’s main keyword.

  1. Adds his new product image into that screenshot.

  1. Reviews it with his team and asks:

  • Why should someone buy our product over these competitors?

  • Does our image stand out on this page?

This visual exercise helps you see your listing the way customers do.

If your image doesn’t pop on that crowded search page, it’s time to redo and refine until it does.

Beautiful Packaging Adds Legitimacy

A good listing isn’t just about the product image; packaging matters too.

Isaac recalled a conversation with one of the founders of Thrasio, a major Amazon aggregator.

He explained that strong packaging immediately elevates the look and feel of your product.

It helps customers trust your brand and feel more confident in their purchase.

And when your packaging looks impressive, it deserves a place in your product images as well.

Isaac suggested:

  1. If it fits the context, display the packaging in the main image.

  1. At the very least, show it in one of your secondary images.

This simple touch elevates your product in the eyes of shoppers.

Steps to Improve Your Listings Today

Here’s a quick action plan based on Isaac’s advice:

  1. Audit your main image: Does it look more appealing than your competitors’? If not, redesign it.

  1. Run a split test: Use PickFu or ProductPinion to get unbiased feedback on your image options.

  2. Analyze the search page: Take a screenshot of your product among competitors. Does it stand out?

  1. Upgrade your packaging: Work with a designer to create professional-looking packaging that makes your product feel premium.

  1. Show off your packaging: Include it in your main or secondary images to enhance your brand credibility.

-: Gentle Reminder :-

Why This Works

Customers don’t just buy products, they buy the story and perception behind them.

A polished main image and professional packaging instantly communicate that your brand is trustworthy and your product is worth their money.

Isaac put it this way: “Be obsessed with your main image and packaging. Make them beautiful. They're two of the strongest levers you can pull for success.”

Final Thoughts

Creating a stunning Amazon listing isn’t about luck; it’s about strategy, testing, and understanding your customers.

Focus on:

  1. A click-worthy main image that pops on search pages.

  1. Split testing with tools like PickFu or ProductPinion to make data-backed decisions.

  1. Professional packaging that builds trust and credibility.

By combining these elements, you can create listings that not only attract clicks but also convert those clicks into sales.
