Amazon ads are one of the quickest ways to start driving sales from day one — but only if you know how to use them effectively. 😉

In this article, I’ll share key insights on setting up Amazon PPC campaigns that deliver real results right from the start.

Here's a video which we based this article on.

These tips come from my video interview with Alok, where we had a great conversation about what actually works on Amazon.

Now let's get into the details.

How to Start Getting Sales on Amazon from Day One

Getting your first sale on Amazon can feel overwhelming — especially when you’re just starting out.

But you know what?

Amazon PPC or pay per click advertising can help you with it, even if your product is brand new and buried deep in the search results.

Let me explain.

Once your product listing is live — meaning you’ve uploaded your photos, added a title and description, and it's officially on Amazon.com — you can immediately begin running ads.

This is done through Amazon’s PPC platform where you pay for your product to appear in front of potential buyers based on the keywords they type in.

Here's an example: let’s say you’re selling a gardening shovel.

At first, your listing might be stuck on page 50 of the search results.

That's far from where customers usually look.

With PPC, you can launch a campaign that targets the keyword “gardening shovel.”

This means when someone searches for that term, your product could show up as a sponsored listing — right near the top.

Now, if a customer clicks your ad but doesn’t buy, you’ll only pay for the click.

But if they click and make a purchase, you get both the sale and the traffic boost — and you still only pay for the click itself.

Either way, you’re gaining valuable exposure.

That’s important because Amazon’s algorithm notices when a product gets clicks and sales through ads, and it starts ranking your listing higher in organic (non-paid) search results.

Let’s say your ad performs well for “big shovel for garden.”

Amazon sees that people who click your ad are also buying your product.

That signals to them that your item matches what customers are looking for.

So over time, your listing will start to climb — first from page 50 to page 20, then page 10, then page 5, and eventually maybe even page one.

This steady rise happens because Amazon rewards products that generate sales.

Their goal is to show shoppers items they’re likely to buy, and if your ad proves that your listing converts well for certain keywords, Amazon will start showing it more often without the need for ads.

The key takeaway here is that PPC isn’t just about paying for visibility — it’s a powerful way to jump-start momentum.

Even if you're totally new to selling on Amazon, this strategy helps you show up in front of the right people immediately.

And with smart targeting and a compelling product listing, you could start generating both ad-driven and organic sales faster than you’d think.

So if you're asking how to get sales from day one, Amazon PPC is definitely one of the most effective answers.
