How to Master Amazon FBA Profits with Jungle Scout Sales Analytics?

Hi, Amazon seller! Let me ask you a question: do you know the true financial health of your business?

Well, running an Amazon business without a clear understanding of your financial health can feel a lot like that rollercoaster.

It's easy to get caught up in the thrill of making sales, but without knowing your actual profits, you could be setting yourself up for a financial disaster.

The ups and downs of selling on Amazon can be a crazy ride, so you know it's high time to buckle up.

But guess what?

If there's one thing that can get you through the wild ride, it's the use of an automated tool that records and sorts your financial data.

And let me tell you what, you can't go wrong with Jungle Scout Sales Analytics for this.

If you're reading this, it's somewhat likely that we have crossed paths before.

But if not, here's a little introduction about myself – I'm Vova Even, and I have been actively selling on Amazon since 2016.

With all my experience, I share my tips, tricks, and hacks via my YouTube Channel and Udemy courses to help Amazon sellers climb the ladder and skyrocket their profits!

In today's article, I will walk you through the Jungle Scout Sales Analytics feature to show you how it can power up your trade game.

Take my word for it – it's a huge lifesaver!

But before we jump into the nits and grits of the tool, I have created a YouTube video covering the subject in full detail with Ed from Jungle Scout.

So, if you'd rather go for visuals than text, you can watch the video below:

As an entrepreneur, it's natural for your mind to be all over the place about how your business is performing.

While Amazon Seller Central provides various reports on profitability, its user interface can be outdated, and generating reports may require quite a lot of time and learning.

But before you give up, there's an easy way out – integrating your Seller Central account with Jungle Scout.

This way, you can retrieve a significant amount of data present it in a more user-friendly interface, and get a clearer understanding of how your business is doing in the cutthroat marketplace.

Let's look at a company's view as an example to see how it works.

The image above shows that over the past 30 days, we have sold a total of 224 units.

Of those, 193 units have been shipped. At the same time, the remaining 19 were part of promotional activities, such as lightning deals or coupons offered on Amazon.

Next up, based on the costs we originally inputted, we can determine my net profit margin for all the sales and the total gross revenue generated.

It appears that out of the $8,000 revenue generated, we earned a net profit of approximately $800, resulting in a 10% profit margin, as seen in the image.

Besides the Net Margin, we can see the ROI.

This means that using my shipping costs and the goods themselves, along with the profits earned, we can determine my return on investment, which is 40.9% in the example we're considering.

So, Jungle Scout breaks down all of these factors into line items, enabling you to gain a comprehensive and detailed understanding of how each aspect plays out.

In the summary section, you can see your gross revenue, cost of goods sold, operating expenses, and net profit.

In case you're wondering, operating expenses account for several costs, such as referral fees to Amazon, sales tax, and any manual entries made in Jungle Scout, such as expenses for a photographer or an ad agency managing your campaigns.

And after factoring in these expenses, you can determine your net profit.

Not just that, you can further breakdown your revenue over time and take a look at several other metrics, as you can see in the picture below:

You can get the sales, along with any refunds issued by Amazon to customers.

Amazon may also reimburse you if they lose or damage your inventory, resulting in a credit to your Amazon wallet.

Then, let's say you have offered promotional rebates; it will be subtracted from your revenue.

By analyzing this data, you can gain a clearer understanding of your total revenue over time.

The breakdown is pretty much the same for the costs too. Here's an image of how the costs are broken down:

You can analyze the costs of the goods sold, including the shipping costs from the supplier to Amazon's staging environment, whether it is a third-party warehouse or your own.

The FBA inbound shipping line item reflects the cost of shipping from the staging environment to Amazon's warehouse, and the miscellaneous cost is attributed to manual entries or any fees you may be paying to Amazon, such as referral fees or Fulfillment fees from Amazon's warehouse.

And yes, all of these costs are automatically pulled from your account.

As I mentioned earlier, these calculations make it incredibly easy to understand the health of your business.

And oh, if you'd prefer to view this information on a product-by-product basis, you can click on "multi-proc view," which will provide the same breakdown but for that specific product when you click on it. Sounds fantastic, right? I bet!

The Bottom Line

And that's a wrap from my side. Suppose you're an Amazon seller who really wishes to excel. In that case, I'm pretty sure you're going to love Jungle Scout Sales Analytics for all that the tool has in store for you.

Yep, it's nothing short of having your own private bookkeeper!

And the best part? It already calculates everything for you! All you have to do is work on improving your business, and Sales Analytics will take care of the rest!

That said, I firmly hope today's article helped a lot with profoundly understanding the tool.
