The Best Three Strategies to Craft Killer Amazon Listing Images

According to in-depth research by ServiceChannel, over 70% of buyers experience negative shopping experiences due to disorganized inventory, broken shelves, and poor hygiene.

Additionally, 65% of customers leave the store without purchasing due to a poor storefront and product listing.

Your storefront’s physical appearance is critical in determining whether consumers will shop from you or move to a competitor’s site.

As an Amazon seller, your product listing is the storefront.

Like a window captivates buyers, your title and featured images encourage customers to click.

Your Amazon product listing offers the customer an in-depth view of what you sell, including a detailed description, customer reviews, and images to support it.

Therefore, having a standout listing is the key to overcoming your competition and capturing the market share.

Below I’ve compiled the top three tips and tricks with the help of Ian Bower, founder of Graphic Rhythm to let you create an optimized Amazon product listing.

Here's something really cool that Ian and his team offered to the readers of my blog.

Let’s dive in!

P.S.S. - I have another post with Ian about designing great Amazon product images.

Tip # 1 – Meet Customer Needs

Experts reveal that 90% of information received by the brain is visual

Moreover, 63% of buyers believe images are more significant than a copy.

Thus, your product imagery is critical to optimizing your Amazon listing and converting customers.

But here’s the thing: top-notch visuals are more than hiring a professional photographer, using good lighting, and trying different angles.

You need to go beyond using high resolution and focus on communicating value through product imagery.

Your buyers want to know what your product does, how it benefits them, and why they should choose it.

Therefore, your product images must showcase your item’s features rather than laser focusing on its “uniqueness.”

Before a customer looks for your product’s special or bonus features, they want to ensure it meets their feature criteria.

And if your listing doesn’t display the necessary aspects, the customer might jump to your competitors.

To better illustrate the first tip, let’s take a look at several examples:

Example 1 – Cuisinart Airfryer Convection Toaster Oven

At a glance, the Cuisinart Airfryer Convection Toaster Oven’s product listing does not stand out.

Not only does it lack text, but the images aren’t high-resolution.

Therefore, the brand fails to communicate the product’s features, benefits, and USP.

Most importantly, the product listing doesn’t offer information on the toaster oven’s functionality, interior and exterior dimensions, and capacity.

By leaving the features to the buyer’s imagination, the brand will increase bounce rates and cause customers to buy from competitors.

Example 2 – Oster Extra Large Digital Countertop Convection Oven

Similar to the previous example, the brand has failed to provide information regarding the dimensions of the countertop convection oven.

While the product listing provides a detailed overview of the oven's functions and internal capacity, the lack of clarity on its external and internal dimensions leaves potential customers in the dark.

Besides this, the product listing mentions that the oven can accommodate two pizzas, but this description is too vague to offer any useful insights.

Without clear information, customers cannot determine whether the oven will fit in their kitchen or countertop space.

Moreover, they may also struggle to determine whether the oven can accommodate their preferred cooking dishes and utensils or not.

Providing detailed and accurate information on a product's dimensions is crucial for customers to make informed purchase decisions.

By omitting this information, the brand risks losing potential customers who may opt for products with more transparent and illustrative images.

Therefore, it is important for brands to ensure that their product images are as informative and helpful as possible.

Example 3 – Ciarra Catosec01 Digital Convection Oven Countertop

Lastly, we’ve got the Ciarra Catosec01 Digital Convection Oven Countertop by a Private Label seller.

The seller has taken great care to provide customers with all the necessary information, including clear and attractive images that convey the product's dimensions, features, and benefits.

The product images are especially noteworthy, as they provide potential customers with a comprehensive view of the oven's size and design.

Additionally, the images showcase the oven's features and benefits, such as its multiple cooking modes and user-friendly digital display.

This level of detail and transparency in the product images can help customers make an informed decision about whether the oven is the right fit for their needs or not.

Furthermore, the product listing includes in-depth information that provides even more insight into the oven's capabilities.

This attention to detail is a testament to the seller's commitment to customer satisfaction and can help build trust and confidence in the brand.

In summary, the Ciarra Catosec01 Digital Convection Oven Countertop is an excellent example of how effective product imagery and detailed information can help attract and retain customers.

By providing all the necessary information in a clear and transparent manner, the seller has created a product listing that is both informative and visually appealing, making it an attractive choice for potential customers.

Tip # 2 – Answer Customer Queries

We've already touched on the importance of crafting a compelling product listing, but did you know that 53% of buyers agree images are more important than reviews and ratings?

That means your customers will surf your product listing before they check the reviews.

That’s where the significance of a Q&A section shines.

Your listing must address customer queries to help establish yourself as a brand authority and drive traffic.

Remember, confusion inhibits conversion. Idleness is every brand’s worst enemy, and the best way to overcome this is by creating a killer FAQ section.

You can use websites like AnswerThePublic or surf through your listing’s Q&A and reviews area to determine what customers are asking.

You may also check the number of upvotes on a particular question to identify whether there’s a communication gap between sellers and customers.

By prioritizing the Q&A section of your product listing, you can build trust with your customers and drive more sales, ultimately helping to establish your brand as a leader in your industry.

Example 1 – USB-C 4K Triple Display Docking Station

This particular brand is among the top sellers in its category and for good reason.

The product listing is stunning, with vivid and in-depth images that clearly illustrate the number of compatible devices, the available ports, and the dock's dimensions.

However, there is one critical piece of information missing from the product listing: the power output.

As we scroll down to the Q&A section (check below), it becomes clear that this is a common point of confusion among customers, with the first three customer queries all related to the DC power output and power adapter.

What's more, each of these questions has received two to six upvotes, indicating that many other customers have the same question.

If the seller does not address this common confusion in a well-curated FAQ section, they risk losing potential traffic and sales.

It's essential to remember that even the smallest details can make a significant impact on a customer's decision to purchase, so it's crucial to ensure that all information is readily available and easy to understand.

By paying attention to customer questions and feedback and addressing them proactively in the FAQ section, sellers can build trust with their customers and establish themselves as reliable authorities in their industry.

Example 2 – USB C Docking Station Dual Monitor

Similar to the first example, the USB C Docking Station Dual Monitor product listing includes up to six images and a video, which is great.

However, the brand falls short of providing essential information such as the types of available ports and DC power output.

This lack of information can create confusion among potential customers, leading to idle browsing and a possible loss of sales.

To prevent this, sellers must go beyond generic product listings and include a valuable FAQ section that addresses common questions and concerns.

By providing clear and concise information in the FAQ section, sellers can establish themselves as knowledgeable and trustworthy authorities in their industry, which can lead to increased customer trust and loyalty.

A well-curated FAQ section can also help reduce customer service inquiries and save time and resources for the seller.

In short, while vivid images and videos are essential to a successful product listing, providing complete and accurate information is equally crucial.

By addressing potential customer confusion through a well-curated FAQ section, sellers can improve their conversion rates and build a loyal customer base.

Tip # 3 – Register for a Warranty Card

Your customers don’t want to purchase a product they’ll regret.

By offering a satisfaction guarantee or a long-time warranty, you can convince them to choose your brand.

In fact, an in-depth review reveals that a well-crafted guarantee can positively impact a shopper’s buying decision and increase your brand’s growth.

Therefore, how you word your guarantee plays a crucial role in marketing and achieving product quality.

For starters, it makes the customer feel confident in their purchase and simplifies the process from discovery to purchase.

Furthermore, it pushes your business to focus on enhancing the features and quality of the product to meet and exceed customer expectations.

However, since Amazon limits the use of several keywords, including “Guarantee” and “Buy with Confidence,” Ian recommends registering your product for a warranty card and adding it to your listing.

What’s more?

You can provide the customer with their warranty cards via a QR code or link to ensure they never lose them.

You can add a time frame, such as 1-year or 18 months.

Example 1 – Anker Docking Station 13-in-1 USB C-Dock

Although the brand offers a generous "Worry-free, 18 Months Warranty" for their product, it is not immediately visible in their product listing.

While it is mentioned in the product description, most customers prefer to rely on product imagery to assess a product's quality and value.

Without a clear display of the warranty or guarantee in the product images, the brand risks losing potential customers who may not take the time to read through the description.

By prominently featuring the warranty or guarantee in the product imagery, the brand can instill confidence in potential customers and boost sales.

Bonus Tip – Work on Your Bullet Points

When creating Amazon product listings, many sellers often overlook the importance of the product bullet points.

While they may seem like a small aspect of the listing, they can have a big impact on the overall effectiveness of your images.

It's important to remember that many customers may not read through all of your bullet points, especially if they are long and difficult to understand.

This is why it's crucial to ensure that your bullet points are clear, concise, and easy to read.

It's also important to consider the language and tone you use in your bullet points.

Avoid using technical jargon or complex language that may confuse or frustrate potential buyers.

One helpful tip is to use the front of your bullet as a heading to help customers quickly identify the key information that they are looking for.

Additionally, you can use bullet points to highlight specific features or benefits of your product, which can make it easier for customers to understand what sets your product apart from the competition.

Finally, don't be afraid to experiment with different formatting and layout options for your bullet points.

Using bold or italicized text, adding icons or images, or breaking up your bullet points into shorter, more manageable sections can all help make your listing more visually appealing and engaging for potential buyers.

By taking the time to clean up your bullet points and make them more effective, you can significantly improve the overall effectiveness of your Amazon listing images.

This, in turn, can make it more likely that customers will be interested in your product and make a purchase.

So, don't overlook the power of your bullet points!

By implementing these key takeaways, you can help ensure that your product stands out and attracts the attention of potential customers.

So, without further ado, here are some essential strategies to consider when designing your Amazon product images:

  1. Use Callouts to Highlight Important Features: Drawing attention to the most important features of your product through callouts can help increase engagement and highlight what makes your product unique.

  1. Use Images to Show Your Product in Action: Including images of your product in use can help customers visualize themselves using it and increase their desire to make a purchase.

  1. Communicate the Dimensions and Features of Your Product Clearly: Clearly communicating the dimensions and features of your product can help customers make informed purchasing decisions and reduce the likelihood of returns.

  1. Look at the Q&A Section for Inspiration: Paying attention to common customer questions in the Q&A section can give you ideas for improving your listing images and product description.

  1. Use your Image Space Cleverly: Maximizing the use of your image space can help provide customers with a better understanding of your product and make it more visually appealing.

  1. Register for a Warranty Card: Providing a warranty can give customers peace of mind and increase their trust in your product.

  1. Work on Your Bullet Points: Well-crafted bullet points can help communicate the most important features and benefits of your product in a clear and concise manner.

The Bottom Line

Creating compelling Amazon listing images is essential to effectively communicate with your buyers and drive sales.

By implementing the tips and tricks we discussed, you can bridge the communication gap and provide your customers with the information they need to make informed purchasing decisions.

Remember to prioritize high-quality images, display product dimensions and features clearly, and address common customer queries in a well-curated FAQ section.

To maximize sales and conversions on Amazon, it's important to strike a balance between highlighting your product's unique selling proposition and meeting customers' basic expectations.

While it's important to showcase what sets your product apart from competitors, customers still want to know the basic features and specifications of your product.

By placing yourself in your customer's shoes and anticipating their needs, you can ensure that your listing provides all the information they require.

This includes communicating clearly about the product's dimensions, features, and potential limitations.

By doing so, you can build trust with your customers and increase the likelihood of them making a purchase.

You should also improve your Amazon listing reviews section to get a better conversion rate.
