Welcome to my once again for another ZonGuru Keyword on Fire Tutorial.

I recently had an insightful and informative conversation with Veronica from ZonGuru in which we talked about the constantly evolving Amazon FBA space and how ZonGuru is helping Amazon sellers to stay up to date and grow their business.

We also discussed ZonGuru’s Keywords on Fire tool, an Amazon keyword research tool, and I was so inspired by it that I decided to do another blog on the tool.

How to Find Keywords on ZonGuru Keywords on Fire Easily? [Step-by-Step Tutorial]


Keywords on Fire tool is basically a reverse ASIN lookup that helps us collect the most relevant, strong, and impactful keywords that your customers are writing into the Amazon search engine.

Also, we have an API connection with Amazon, so Amazon is giving us all the data that they're willing to share with a third party, and we can find all those data points in ZonGuru’s Seller Central. 


You can run searches in the tool in two different ways; by manually adding the ASINs or searching products by phrase.

Both methods are effortless and simple for even novices.


I’ll here use the second method; searching products by phrase to show you how this tool works and what its significance is.



In this trial run, I am choosing the phrase ‘exercise band’ with the United States as my marketplace.

Once you choose both, click the search button, and after that, different products will appear that are ranked for the phrase we typed.

You can select as many as 25 products from the list as per your preferences; I will recommend choosing highly-rated products if you are doing keyword research.

Once you have all 25 products, click the Add Products button in the bottom right, name the session, and click the Run Keyword Analysis button.

After a few moments wait, your analysis would be finished and ready to be explored. Just click on the session's name and that’s it.


Now, I want to point out that keywords are significant at every step of your Amazon Journey.

Whether it's validating a product, creating your listing, or running PPC campaigns, you need keyword information.

But that’s not all.

You also need to review the performance of your keywords and see if they’re bringing you the expected results. 


Gladly, all of those data points can be found in this tool so you don't need to go anywhere else.

You can get all the information right here, but it's up to you how creatively and smartly you use this tool.

Now, let me show what exactly you will be looking at after entering the analysis: 



As you can see, this is the information that the tool has extracted for us in the exercise band from the US marketplace.

We've gotten this information from 25 ASINs (or competitors) on Amazon, and the tool has provided us with 546 unique and impactful keywords.

I know that other tools may give you 10,000 keywords, but the truth is, you can't have 10,000 keywords that are also relevant, unique, and impactful.

Eventually, you have to go on a long spree to filter out redundant keywords.


However, ZonGuru not only gives you the relevant keywords but also allows you the option to filter them down further to suit your needs.

I’ll show you ahead what filtering options ZonGuru gives its users.

Other than competitors and unique keywords, Keywords on Fire also gives you a nice overview of the demand by giving you an estimated total revenue and total search volume of that particular niche. 


Now comes the main part.

The list at the center of the screen has all the crucial data points that you will need to observe carefully.

When you hover over them, the tool will tell you what they are about, but let me quickly explain some important ones:

ZonGuru Keywords on Fire Data Points

  1. ZG Score: It tells you the relevancy score of a keyword based on all the other data points. The score ranges between 0 to 100. 


  1. KW $ (Revenue): It shows the revenue a keyword or phrase brings in. 


  1. Search Volume: This data point shows you the search volume of a keyword. 


  1. Top 25 Comp: It shows you how many of your top 25 competitors are ranked for a keyword.


  1. ZG Launch: Veronica says this data point is her favorite. Basically, ZG Launch is the number of units a seller needs to sell every day during the starting two weeks of a product to get ranked. 


  1. Ratings: It shows you the number of ratings for a particular keyword. 


  1. PPC bid: It is an estimated bid to appear for advertisements being displayed for this keyword. An average PPC bid should cost between $0.05 and $3 for a new seller.

    I  had an interesting conversation with someone at an Amazon Seller Summer Event in Sydney just recently, and he was telling me that his PPC bid was between $10 and $20 dollars.

    I was like, “Really, are you sure?!”. Because, honestly, it was a lot, a red flag for me! Obviously, when you're in the launching phase, you don't do such things unless you have got a crazy budget. 


There are other data points as well that you can explore by yourself, but for me, these are the essential ones that no seller should ignore. 


If you move the scroll to the left side, you will see another list full of numbers with products on the top.

Here, the tool gives you an excellent overview of how your competitors are ranking for the keywords in the list. 

The high or low numbers here actually tell you how strongly an ASIN is ranked for a keyword; the lower the number, the more the competition will be in that niche/keyword.

Moreover, the numbers are further distinguished by the colors.

For example, the red color indicates tight competition while the green color reflects less or no competition at all, and perhaps gives you an opportunity to exploit that keyword and use it in your listings.

Similarly, the other colors, like orange and light green represent the medium-level competition for a keyword. 


That’s the ZonGuru Keywords on Fire for you.

It’s pretty easy to use, and the presentation of the stats and all the data points is also easily fathomable.

Now, let’s go through the filters the tool offers to its users.

Although ZonGuru’s algorithms are quite impressive and choose a minimal number of impactful keywords, ZG’s filters will help you get what exactly you want.


I always say when you're looking at data, do it with a question in mind.

Because if you won’t, the numbers might bore and you may eventually give up.

That’s why, when I have to do some research and there are numbers in front of me, I always go with a question that needs to be answered.

Then you will know where you need to be looking.


Let’s say I have launched an exercise band as my product, and I need to create a new PPC campaign because I want to know what keywords my competitors are not using and which I can use in my listing.

Going forward with this mindset will certainly give me the answers I am seeking.


So, what you can do is click on the Analyzed Products list at the top of the page and click on ‘not ranked’ for as many competitors as you want. 



This means you will only see the keywords these products are not being ranked for.

When you click on not ranked, you will see the product get unhighlighted, indicating that the product will not be considered anymore.

Once you finish this process, you will see the number of keywords decrease than before.

But you can apply more filters to get exact results.

For example, you got the keywords your competing ASINs are not ranked for, but you want to see which of those has a search volume of more than 2000.

The solution is simple: select search volume from the drop-down menu where the keyword option is selected by default, and choose greater than or equal to option.

And… TA-DA!! 


You will see the number of keywords further compressed, giving you lesser keywords, and making your keyword research easier than ever before.

Similarly, if you want to see keywords with less competition, select ratings and then select less than or equal to from the sub-menu, enter the number of ratings you want to see, and click the filter.

The tool will present you with the results in milliseconds!


An alternative to this tool would be the Jungle Scout Keyword Scout.

Final Words

I know new sellers might find it difficult to get things right sometimes.

But with time, comes precision and experience, and believe me, gradually things will become less and less difficult for you.

But now, thanks to brands like ZonGuru, there are many aspects of selling on Amazon that have been simplified and automated.

Keyword research has especially become so simple after the advent of tools like Keywords on Fire that even novice sellers can do it easily.


However, that doesn’t devalue the significance of having a mentor.

Having a mentor is essential at the start, in the middle, and even when you have successfully established a business on Amazon.

And not to mention, your own experience counts too.

There are many things that you have to learn on your own because the mentor’s job is only to prepare you for the future and set your expectations right.
