My goal is to help new and advanced Amazon FBA sellers reach their goals, make more money (while growing consistently), and hopefully to have a happy and long life.

Anyhow, do you know that Helium 10 has recently introduced a new feature inside its Magnet and Cerebro tools?

It's called keyword search volume.

In this article, I'll show you what this feature is all about, how it works, and how you can benefit from using it as an Amazon seller.

It's in the 2nd part of the article.

The first part briefly explains what Magnet and Cerebro are.

If this piques your interest, you must read till the end because I'll also share new Helium 10 discount coupons good for lifetime savings.

If you prefer not to read, I also have a video version of this post available.

Helium 10 is a software suite tailored to help sellers thrive on Amazon.

It's like an all-in-one set of tools helpful for everything from product research, to keyword research, to listing optimization, to email automation, and much more.

Helium 10 also has a user-friendly Chrome extension that seamlessly integrates with the Amazon marketplace.

Called Xray by some.

And now, let's get on to the topic at hand!

A Glimpse into Helium 10 Magnet and Cerebro Tools

Both Helium 10 Magnet and Cerebro are keyword research tools.

They help you find better keywords for your Amazon products.

The difference is that Cerebro steals your competitor keywords so that you can perhaps grab some of their sales.

I have a detailed lecture on how to use Cerebro.

You can click here to watch it now, but in brief, here's how Cerebro works: Enter your competitors' ASINs in Cerebro, and in return, it will extract all keywords upon which those competitors rank.

Here's also an embedded video.

Interesting Fact: ASIN stands for Amazon Standard Identification Number.

This number is issued to each and every product sold on Amazon.

You can get the ASIN of any product either using the Helium 10 Chrome extension or the product's URL or in the description area of a product on Amazon.

It's the 10-digit code after "dp."

Here's an example:
https://www.amazon.com/dp/XXXXXXXXXX

Magnet, on the other hand, finds new and fresh keywords for you to use and stand out from the competition.

Essentially, if you search "kitchen knife" on Magnet, it will spit out all the phrases connected to this term, such as chef knife, sharp knife, food cutting knife, etc.

You'll get a lot of irrelevant keywords as well, stuff like; hunter knife, home (connected to the word "kitchen") and other unrelated stuff.

You'll have to filter the irrelevant things out.

If you're not sure how to use these tools, you can learn from Helium 10 Academy.

To reach the Academy, click on the link above, then select "
Resources" and click on "Academy".

Helium 10 gives you free access to its tutorials when you create your free account on it.

This is a great way to learn.

Otherwise, I myself have created an easy and free course on Amazon Listing Optimization using Helium 10.

It's a free two-hour long course on YouTube with no upsells.

Thus, highly recommended.

I show how to use Magnet there as well.

The New Helium 10 Magnet and Cerebro Feature

The special Helium 10 feature that I wanted to share with you is "Search Volume History."

To see how this feature works and what it can do for you, open Helium 10 Magnet and search for your keyword.

Search Volume History also appears in Cerebro and the Chrome extension.

Below is a screenshot right out of my video where I searched for a kitchen knife with Magnet.

I've encircled the new feature.

If you click on the little blue graph, a window will appear, displaying a graph of historical search volume.

There will be an option to view the graph for the past 30 days, 90 days, one year, or All Time.

You can switch between the options.

Each interval will show the number of times the keyword was searched for.

The information is beneficial because you can use it to determine when there were more sales (or less sales), over a period of time.

As you know, I searched for a kitchen knife.

When I switched to the All Time view, it showed that there was a search surge between November 16 and December 30.

Can you take a guess what the reason must be?

Christmas, indeed!

Since it's a giftable item, many people hunt for a quality kitchen knife over the holiday season.

The keyword search volume is higher.

Also, if the number of searches is low for a while on the graph and high for another while.

This repeats year after year.

You might come to the conclusion that there is a seasonality to the sales cycle.

For example, keywords that see a demand spike during the summer months (April to September), and lower searches from (October to March) are said to be seasonal.

This can also be observed by looking for a drop in the graph, which indicates that fewer people search for the keyword within that range.

Seasonality also fits holidays such as Halloween.

Some items might only sell high during that season and low or close to non during the year.

I'd also recommend checking
Google Trends for seasonality.

Input your keyword, choose the country of searches and the period to see the right numbers.

Google is not Amazon, but you can still learn a lot from it.

In short, the Search Volume History graph can help you with in-depth keyword research, market analysis, product hunting, as well as inventory planning.

You can use it as a premise for your assumptions.

When is a keyword expected to gain more traction?

When is an item anticipated to sell more?

Which marketplaces are currently popular on Amazon?

You can think and accordingly plan for when to stock up on supplies and when to pull back.

Search Volume History enables you to view this information from the moment a term was first searched up until the present.

In my case, I was able to view the search history for the phrase "kitchen knife" for the past two years.

Isn't that great?

Helium 10 delivers this information utilizing high-tech algorithms.

I would not claim they are 100% correct, but they are close.

I thus strongly recommend using this feature.

Now let's talk about this feature in Cerebro.

As I mentioned, Cerebro reveals your competitors' keyword strategy and shows you for which keywords they rank.

In order to use it, you need to input your competitor's ASIN in the search bar and click on
Get Keywords.

Cerebro will take a few seconds to extract all the keywords connected to the ASIN you searched for.

Then, once the results have loaded, you will be able to check the Search Volume History for any term.

For example, when I searched for a kitchen knife, one of the first few competitor keywords Cerebro showed was "Japanese knife."

It had a search volume of 11,758, and when I clicked on it, a similar graph that Magnet displayed for "kitchen knife" appeared.

Likewise, you can search for your competitors and view the search volume of any of their keywords.

The advantages are identical to those with Magnet.

Like if you're trying to launch a Halloween product, you can seek a keyword that begins to catch up searches in October.

Once you find it, just launch the product a little earlier than October, and you will ride the wave right.

I don't recommend selling seasonal products tho, though I prefer products that steadily sell throughout the year.

Funny enough, my main brand is all about BBQ products.

So these are mainly seasonal items that start selling well from March to September and from October to February.

Also, holidays give spikes for these products because many of them are giftable.

But it is harder to manage because sometimes you can order too much stock or not enough.

After a few years in my niche, I can predict it, but when I started, it was harder to forecast.

That said, get in the trenches earlier :)
