If you want to succeed on Amazon, understanding what customers are searching for is key.

That’s where knowing the search volume of keywords comes in handy.

When you can check the search volume on Helium 10, you get a clear picture of how many people are looking for certain products or keywords on Amazon.

This helps you pick the right products, optimize your listings, and run smarter advertising campaigns.

In this quick guide, I’ll walk you through simple ways to find search volume using Helium 10 tools.

Plus, I’ll share how you can get a free trial, and a couple of exclusive discount coupons to save money on your Helium 10 subscription.

  • Use code VOVA10 for 10% lifelong discount

  • Use code VOVA6M20 for 20% off first six subscriptions

If you’re new here, my name is Vova Even.

I’ve been selling on Amazon since 2016, and I’ve used Helium 10 almost since the beginning.

So, let’s dive in and make this easy for you.

Why Does Search Volume Matter?

Before we jump into the “how,” let’s talk about why search volume matters so much.

Imagine you want to sell kitchen shears.

If thousands of people search for “kitchen shears” every month, that means there’s a big demand.

On the other hand, if only a handful of people search for it, you might want to reconsider or explore related keywords with higher demand.

Knowing search volume lets you:

  1. See how many people are actively searching for your product idea

  1. Discover seasonal trends (like if a product sells more around holidays)

  1. Choose the best keywords to include in your listing to get more traffic

  1. Plan and optimize your PPC (pay-per-click) campaigns based on real data

So, it’s not just a number, it’s a guide to what customers want and when.

Now, let's talk about how to check the search volume on Helium 10.

Option #1: Use the Helium 10 Chrome Extension

One of the easiest ways to check search volume is by using the Helium 10 Chrome extension.

You can download it for free — I’ve put a button below where you can grab it right away.

Once you install the extension, head over to Amazon and type in your keyword.

Let’s use “kitchen shears” as an example.

When the search results load, you’ll see a small Helium 10 widget appear near the top or side of the page.

This widget shows the estimated search volume — basically, how many times people searched for that term in the last month.

But here’s the cool part: you can click on the widget and open a tool called Helium 10 Xray.

That can also be accessed from the extensions toolbar at the top of your browser.

Xray shows you more detailed data about the product listings on that page, including sales estimates and competition.

Near the top center of Xray, you’ll see the search volume displayed again, this time with options to view it over different periods: 30 days, 90 days, one year, or all time.

Why is this helpful?

Because it lets you see seasonal trends.

For example, you might notice that “kitchen shears” have higher searches in November and December — which could mean people buy them as Christmas gifts.

I actually sold kitchen shears as my first product on Amazon, so I know these trends firsthand.

Even though I’m not selling that item anymore, the data was super useful back then.

Option #2: Find Search Volume in Helium 10 Magnet

If you want to dig deeper into keywords, Helium 10 offers a tool called Magnet.

This is a powerful keyword research tool designed to help you find not only the search volume for your main keyword but also related keywords that shoppers use.

Here’s how to use Magnet:

  1. Open Helium 10 and go to the Magnet tool.

  1. Type your main keyword, like “kitchen shears,” and click “Get Keywords.”

  1. Scroll through the list of keywords Magnet finds, and you’ll see search volume data next to each keyword.

Magnet doesn’t just show the exact keyword you typed but also related terms people search for.

You can sort these keywords by highest or lowest search volume, which helps you decide which ones to target in your listing or ads.

If you want to learn keyword research in detail using Helium 10, I have a free course that shows exactly how to use Magnet and other tools to optimize your listings.

Option #3: Check Search Volume Using Cerebro

Another favorite tool for many Amazon sellers is Cerebro — it’s part of Helium 10 and great for keyword research and competitor analysis.

Cerebro lets you plug in the ASIN of a product to see all the keywords that product is ranking for, along with their search volume.

Wondering what an ASIN is?

It stands for Amazon Standard Identification Number, and it’s a unique code every product listing has.

You can find the ASIN either in the product URL or in the product details section on an Amazon listing page.

Here’s how to check search volume with Cerebro:

  1. Copy the ASIN of a competitor’s product you want to analyze.

  1. Open Helium 10 and paste the ASIN into Cerebro.

  1. Cerebro will give you a list of all the keywords that product ranks for, including each keyword’s search volume.

  1. Like with Xray, you can view search volume data over different time frames (30 days, 90 days, one year, or all time).

This tool is especially helpful because it reveals keywords you might not have thought about and shows you what’s working well for your competitors.
