AMZScout Chrome Extension Review

AMZScout Chrome Extension provides you with a bird’s eye view of the market, which means instead of researching products individually, you can have the entire market presented with all the information right in front of you on a single page.

It helps you because having everything on one page makes it easier to compare markets and different niches falling under their umbrella.

I know every seller dreams of such tools that automate complex tasks like product research, etc.

For those sellers, this might be a go-to tool.

I'd also recommend this post which helps you download and install the AMZScout Chrome extension.

Other AMZScout extensions include the; Stock Stats, and the Quick View extensions.

AMZScout Chrome Extension Tutorial

AMZScout Chrome Extension has a smooth way to run.

To get started first you need to download the AMZScout extension

Its one-click installation should not take more than 10 to 15 seconds.

Once you are done with the installation, the extension will be added to the top-right corner of your browser.

Now, let’s come to the how-to-use part.

After installing the extension, go to Amazon and search for any product you are interested in researching.

I am a gamer and have been playing various FPS games.

If you remember Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory, which was very popular back in 2005, it was my favorite.

I also played Counter-Strike 1.6 for a few good years, so I searched for this on Amazon:

Pistol Skin? Yes!

Many gamers are always obsessed with it and love using their weapons, including SMGs, in different skins.

Especially nowadays, when battle royale games are trending, weapon skins are in high demand.

So, I thought, WHY NOT? Let’s try this!

And I am going to show you the results down here.

Please note this is just for the sake of showing you the way to use the extension.

You can try it in your own way.

What will happen after searching is the usual: lots of products will appear in your search results.

However, if you want to use AMZScout Chrome Extension, simply search for its icon in the top right corner and click it.

You will find something like this:

amzscout pro extension review

After entering the keywords into the search bar on Amazon and opening the AMZScout Chrome Extension, this is what will appear.

Don’t get puzzled, I will explain all of it.

You will also see why these stats matter immensely when conducting product research on Amazon.

First, you can see all the products in one column on the left. These are from the search results.

We have different information available on the right, but we will start from the top.

As you can see, there is ‘Results’ on the top, showing us the products we have in our results.

Next, the ‘Avg. Monthly Sales’ tell how many products are sold monthly in that particular niche.

‘Avg. Sales Rank’ shows us the BSR in that niche.

‘Avg. Price’ shows the average price at which products are available in the niche we search.

If you remember, in my case, I had searched for ‘Pistol Skin’, and these results are for that niche.

On the next, we have ‘Avg. Reviews that tell us how many reviews these products have on average.

Moving right, we will find the Saturation score.

Now, what is it? The Saturation Score is a parameter that AMZScout gives you.

It shows you how many sellers that are using AMZScout have found this niche, which is a very nice indicator to see if this niche might be saturated or not in terms of AMZScout sellers.

There are also different other programs for finding products on Amazon, so keep in mind that this niche might have appeared there too.

Looking for other programs? For example; Helium 10.

The blog post that I’ve shared here helps you understand what it is from A to Z.

I've also compared the price of Helium 10 vs AMZScout.

After the Saturation Score, we have the Niche Score.

Now, let me explain to you what Niche Score is.

In the screenshot below that I have shared from my results, it has a 5 score (out of 10).

You can click on the score, which will tell you overall facts based on which it has given that score.

Now, before we get into the details, let me tell you that you do not need to entirely rely on the scores.

They are there just to give you ideas for product research.

Therefore, you don’t need to run and get a product if it gets a 10 out of 10 score.

It's an excellent indication of the product's efficacy, but that doesn't mean you need to start selling it immediately.

I am attaching a screenshot of the Niche Score to help you understand what it will look like. Also, it will make it easy for me to help you grasp the tool properly:

Let me explain to you what it says. Its overall score is based on three parameters: profit, demand, and competition.

It further ranks these three parameters considering various factors, which you can see in the screenshot.

It says the profit is very high because;

a) prices are between $15-40 which is affordable for everyone.

b) the Margin is high.

Again, you’ll have to dig deeper to see if that really is the case.

You’ll have to check the prices of this product to make sure.

For example, you can search for products on Alibaba.

Similarly, according to Niche Score, Demand is medium because only the first-page products are preferred in this niche, and some old sellers are already there to give you a tough time.

Lastly, the Competition is strong even though the niche is unsaturated, has very few reviews, and low top brand competitors i.e. Adidas, Nike, etc.

There are other factors as well that Niche Score considers giving a deserving score to every niche.

Now just imagine how easy it has made researching about any niche!

Using AMZScout Chrome Extension, one can dissect niches to bits on mere fingertips.

Again, bear in mind that this info is only one indicator. You’ll have to dig deeper.

However, that’s not all!

Niche History is another lovely side of AMZScout Chrome Extension.

It shows your niche history of one year with the help of graphs, just as below:

You can see the niche’s history in three ways: by its sales, rank, and price.

By selecting Sales, you will be able to see how many products were sold on a particular day in the previous year.

Niche History also lets you see a niche’s BSR for the last year.

Best Seller Ranking is easy to identify: the lower the sales, the higher the rank will be, and vice versa.

Lastly, you can peep into the niche’s price graph that will show you the price fluctuation, if there have been any.

Surprisingly, the Pistol Skin niche I had searched for you had a constant price throughout the year.

But you can try it on your own, and I’m sure it will give you results.

The last option to explore from the top bar is this dropdown menu, shown in the screenshot below.

It allows you to explore the tool's options, any hints you need frequently asked questions, and other information regarding the extension.

Now, let's go back to the results and see what you will have there.

On the left, you will have a star symbol which you can use to add particular products to your favorites list.

You will then be able to access your favorite products by clicking the big star button on the bottom right side of your screen.

Besides adding some products to the favorites list, you can also remove a product from search results.

You might be asking yourself why I need to remove my searched products.

Let me tell you the significance of it: it is essential because sometimes you might have different products from what you actually wanted to search for.

For example, I had searched for Pistol Skins, if you remember.

We had different pistol skins in our search results as I had shown you via screenshots.

However, what sometimes happens is some irrelevant products that use the same keyword listing appear in your search results.

Let me give you an instance: my search results showed some pistol extensions, even though I had only inserted keywords like Pistol Skins.

Consequently, these kinds of irrelevant search results impact the overall stats that the Chrome extension gathers for you for a particular niche.

You need to have the right products in the search results to help you properly research any niche.

Hence, it is crucial that you filter out results and remove any irrelevant item you find at first glance.

Once you remove such products from the results, you will see the overall stats changing with every removal.

The next thing is the Product Name. It’s the title that sellers use to attract customers.

I would suggest you closely watch the titles during your research.

See what makes bestselling titles different from others and try to mimic similar tactics in your listing.

Other than the Product Name, you will also see the Brand Name which helps you identify the best-performing brands in a niche.

Let’s now move on to discuss Product Score.

It’s not much different from the niche score we discussed above, except this one only shows the individual product’s score.

Based on some factors, it gives each product a score between 1-10.

Very few products get 10 points, but there are a considerable number of products between 6-8 points.

Let me quickly show you which factors it brings into consideration:

As you can see, this product scored 7 out of 10 because of the factors mentioned in the screenshot.

It only needs to catch up in the listing quality, but except that everything is done so wonderfully that the product can have decent sales even with a low review count.

However, I want to mention that you don’t need to rely entirely on these numbers only.

They may help you know the potential of a particular product, but you need to look at things from all sides before making your decision.

Having said that, Product Score can be a helpful feature in helping you carve out ideas regarding how to improve your products’ performance.

I hope you are pretty much clear about the things I have explained so far.

To remind you, I have also got a video guide if you want to see me live using this extension.

Now, after the Product Score, we have the Number of Sellers.

It differs from product to product; some have only one and others might have up to five sellers.

There are also different kinds of sellers: FBA and FBM.

Sometimes, you can expect it because the product might be an arbitrage product (Amazon online arbitrage).

But there have also been cases where the additional sellers have turned out to be hijackers (people who usually sell counterfeit versions of your product).

After the Number of Sellers, we have Rank here, which is basically Best Seller Rank (BSR).

This Rank shows where a product stands in the main category and sub-category.

You can find both categories by hovering the cursor over the product’s rank.

By the way, I have one of the most comprehensive videos on Amazon Product Research on YouTube.

I have named this video The Amazon Product Research Bible.

It's 12 hours long – yes, you heard that right!

You can watch this video as a short course, and I can bet you won’t regret it!

After Rank, you will find Price which is self-explanatory. It shows you the price of each product.

If you click on the price of any product, it will open the Product History graph on your screen.

Although we have discussed Product History above, this is just a reminder: Product History shows you a product's sales, rank, and price history.

Moving forward, we have FBA Fees which is the amount that gets deducted per sale from each product.

Clicking on the fees will open a Profit Calculator on your screen, which is a nice feature of this extension.

It will tell you the product price, then the product cost i.e. how much it costs you to buy it from the factory.

Other options are additional per unit cost that is any additional costs that you might add, it's up to you.

You can also put 0 here because it's not mandatory, I put some numbers just to give you an idea of how the calculator works.

In the additional Monthly Cost, you might also want to include the software you use for your business.

If you are using AMZScout, you can add here the amount you are paying monthly or annually.

The Product Weight will automatically be scanned from Amazon.

As you can see in the screenshot, it's only 0.15, making it a very light product.

That's a significant advantage of this product. The Product Size is also not pretty big.

Other extensions that have similar calculators are the
Jungle Scout extension, and also the pretty awesome Helium 10 extension.

Next to the Product Size is Monthly Storage, the fee Amazon takes per unit.

After that, we have the Pick and Pack fee which is easy to understand from the words, or as some call it Amazon fee. Essentially what Amazon takes per sale, based on size, weight, and category of the product.

Amazon Referral Fee means how much they take for each sale.

They usually take 15%. Estimated Monthly Sales are the estimated pieces that a specific product sells in a month. And that’s all about our Profit Calculator!

Also, if you are looking for a monthly sales estimator, you can check out the sales estimator by Jungle Scout.

Hmm, I’ve also compared the Jungle Scout sales estimator to the one by AMZScout. I share the results in this post.

Let’s move forward now.

Right from FBA Fees, we have Net Margin and Estimated Sales, which I already explained in the FBA Fees section, where we discussed the Profit Calculator.

The Estimated Revenue gives you the total revenue of a niche bag in a year.

The Number of Reviews is the total number of reviews a product has so far.

Next to it is RPR, which is an abbreviation of Revenue Per Review.

It tells you how much revenue a product generates per review.

For example, if a product had a revenue of ten thousand and ten reviews, that would mean the revenue per review would be a thousand dollars, which is too good to be true, but yes it can be true!

This is also easy for you to find those ‘gold nugget’ products, so to speak, that have high revenue but very low reviews.

Besides RPR, there’s an Average Rating that tells you the efficacy of each product.

The higher the rating, the better the product will be. If you see low ratings, make sure to read why they are low.

Based on that, you can improve your own products.

The Listing Quality Score or LQS is a score that is allotted to each product based on the following factors:

  1. Name length: it should be below 200 characters

  2. Brand: it should be below 100 characters

  3. Bullets Count: there should be more than four.

  4. Rating: it should be more than four.

  5. The Number of Reviews: they should be more than fourteen.

  6. Seller: the seller must be FBA for high LQS.

  7. Description Length: it should be more than 1000 characters.

  8. Images Count: images should be more than five.

The tool considers all these factors to give a product listing a high-quality score.

If a product falls short of completing any of these parameters, there’s a chance it might not be ranked in the top products.

This, in a way, also suggests what you should apply in your listing to make it rankable.

Again, a listing can still do well even if these are not present, so you need to always keep an eye on the big scheme of things, and not only specific parameters (which of course are important too).

Just think, McFly XD.

I think you can still sell very well with 5 images and with a rating of 3.8.

Ultimately, it all depends on the niche and other factors, but generally, it's a good idea to know some tips and tricks to get higher LQS.

Also, it would only make your product more attractive by adding one or two more images and creating a listing as per factors suggested by LQS.

The next one is Available From which lets you know when the product was launched on Amazon.

I have talked about it previously as well that if any product is available for a long time, for instance, six years, and still has a considerable number of reviews and is generating significant revenue, it is a great omen.

It might mean that the niche is long-lasting and has impressive potential.

If you are seeking any powerful niche to start selling on Amazon, this tool might have all the answers to your questions!

The last in the list is Seller where you can see whether the seller is FBA or FBM.

Just so you know, FBA is much talked about, but an FBM seller is someone who is selling products on Amazon but not using the fulfillment services of Amazon.

Annnd.. Want to learn about extra Amazon extensions?

Well, here's a blog post that covers 4 other extensions for Amazon sellers.

So, that drops the curtain on almost all the essential AMZScout Pro Chrome Extension features.

I would now quickly rummage through some additional features of the extension.

In the bottom left corner of the extension, there will be a Next Page button that will bring you to the other search results page.

Next is the Refresh button which you may have to use to get accurate results.

The Filter option will let you narrow down your search results using different criteria.

Trends will show you the past five years of the history of a niche with the help of Google’s algorithms.

You can also use Google Trends for this.

Then you will see Niche Keywords, clicking on it will open a small window containing high to low-volume keywords for a niche.

The Niche Keywords is a good way for your product research and keyword optimization.

It can really be helpful while creating your listing because you can see all the keywords that are used in those listings right in one place.

Other than that, you have CSV using which you can download all the data in one click in a PDF file.

On the right side, you will find a tutorial where you can take a basic guide offered by the AMZScout team.

The Niche Idea button is there to help you find random niche ideas and the star button next to it will take you to the list of your favorite products.

Before heading towards the conclusion, I would like to remind you all that I have added two videos for product research on Amazon above.

One is specifically about AMZScout Pro Chrome Extension (video), a detailed tutorial, and the other is a comprehensive 12-hour-long video on everything about product research.

I am mentioning it repeatedly because I believe it’s a video every new or old seller should watch to improve their game.
